Celebrating Kyle Turner, Fabricator Welder
Today, for National Apprenticeship week, we are shining the spotlight on Kyle Turner, a fabricator welder at Exyte Hargreaves who completed an apprenticeship in fabrication, welding and mechanical engineering.

In his apprenticeship, Kyle completed a level 3 diploma in welding and fabrication and a BTEC level 3 in mechanical engineering in which he achieved a distinction.
He was inspired to pursue a career in engineering after Exyte Hargreaves visited school to discuss the wide variety of opportunities available. He decided the apprenticeship route was the right one for him as it gave him the opportunity to earn while he learnt, whilst gaining valuable skills outside of the classroom setting that would set him up for his future.
In his role, he is responsible for assembling and welding different variations of ventilation, ensuring it is to the highest standard before going for inspection. During his apprenticeship and career at Exyte Hargreaves, he has worked across a variety of projects such as Chernobyl Safe Containment Arch, Mensa, Helios, Conventional Island Hinkley Point C and at Sellafield.
In recognition of his determination and perseverance to overcome challenges, hard work and outstanding commitment to his apprenticeship, Kyle won the apprentice of the year (21 and under) award in the H&V News Awards 2020.
