Exyte Hargreaves Signs Women in Nuclear UK Charter
Exyte Hargreaves has become the latest signatory of the Women in Nuclear UK charter, joining over 60 other organisations in a shared commitment to improving gender equality in the nuclear sector.
Formed in 2014, Women in Nuclear UK is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to addressing the industry’s gender balance by attracting, supporting, improving progression and retention of more women in the industry. Their mission is ‘to address the industry’s gender balance, improve the representation of women in leadership, engage with the industry, government and public on nuclear issues and support the industry with tools and information.’
The Women in Nuclear UK charter is an initiative for companies to take collective action to improving gender equality whilst also making individual pledges to show their commitment to diversity across the nuclear sector.
In signing the charter, Exyte Hargreaves reinstates its commitment to driving forward equality, diversity and inclusion in the business and wider industry. Building upon the great progress the business has already made, it will continue break down barriers, attract more women into the industry, increase the representation of women, particularly in senior roles and create an inclusive industry where women can thrive.
Exyte Hargreaves has a long-standing history and a growing presence in the nuclear sector supporting the delivery of new energy generation and decommissioning projects for over 60 years. The business has made some great progress in its continued focus to improving gender equality in the nuclear sector, recently announcing it has increased the number of women on the site operation team on Conventional Island, Hinkley Point C to 33%.
Andy Sneyd said “With the renewed focus on nuclear energy and government backing, it is an exciting time in the nuclear industry. As we look to increase nuclear energy generation in the UK, it is vital that we build a more equal, diverse and inclusive workforce to be able to deliver it. Becoming a Women in Nuclear signatory marks our next step in driving forward the necessary change we want to see by committing to further action.”
